Released: San Diego Comic Con, July 2010
Source: Star Wars Visionaries (Expanded Universe)
Accessories: Owen Lars' blaster and cloak, Darth Maul's lightsaber with two removable blades, Star Wars Visionaries comic
Articulation: Darth Maul: Ball jointed neck, ball jointed shoulders, ball jointed elbows, wrists, ball jointed waist, ball jointed hips, ball jointed knees, ball jointed ankles. Owen Lars: Ball jointed neck, ball jointed shoulders, ball jointed elbows, wrists, swivel waist, hips, ball jointed knees.
Final Comments: For me, the highlight of this set is Luke's Uncle Owen. The old POTF2 Owen was in desperate need of an update, and Hasbro took this opportunity to give us the best Owen possible. I am really impressed by the head sculpt. You can certainly tell that this is meant to be the actor from A New Hope. The paint job was also nicely done, with the beard not being too heavy, as was done with the younger Owen figure from Attack of the Clones. The cloak is also much more flexible than the AOTC Owen. The concept of a cyborg Darth Maul has always seemed a strange one to many fans, myself included. But the good thing here is that this story did not actually take place. This story is sort of a 'what if Darth Maul somehow survived and tracked down Obi-Wan.' So don't worry, Darth Maul really did die in Episode I. Anyway, whether you like the concept or not, this figure was very well done. The articulation is spectacular, with the legs being capable of all sorts of cool poses. Unfortunately, the paint job isn't so great. On my figure, the black tattoos are very uneven, with some looking quite faded and faint. It's probably some sort of a mess up at the factory, but unfortunately this was not corrected in time.
