News Roundup - July 2014
July 16. 2014 - Even though it's up in the air as to whether Droids is part of the official Star Wars canon anymore, it's cool to see that there are some Droids references in the upcoming TV series Rebels! To the left you can see a picture from the new Rebels Visual Guide posted on Facebook by Star Wars Sourcebooks that mentions the names of some of our favourite Droids characters. Perhaps Droids still is canon but takes place before Rebels? Either way, it's nice to see that Droids has not been forgotten by the creative team behind Rebels.
Character Model Animation Cels
In other news, there have been some really cool character model cels available on eBay lately from seller icollect-online. These give a great look at all angles of the characters and even give some character names. Did you know that this guy is Octo-Rider? Other model cels are Gee Long, BUN-DINGO, Bix, Galaxeen Droid and Butterfly Drone Pilot. If you check out their completed listings, you can see model cels for Auren Yomm, Mungo's clothing, Wrecking Droid, Drunk Droid, KT-10, Cloudcraft, Cowboy Rider, R2's hoses and R2's booster cables. Too bad there wasn't a Droids visual guide that showed the complete collection of these!
April 3, 2014 - Usually features about Droids are few and far between on the official Star Wars site and other fan sites, but surprisingly that isn't the case right now! If you feel like reading up on the connections between Droids and the prequel trilogy, then check out the new entry on the official Star Wars site's blog titled "From Boonta to Baobab: Droids and the Star Wars Prequels", written by our friend Tim Veekhoven. Tim always does an awesome job on his starwars.com blog entries and this one is definitely no exception. In my opinion, this is a must read for a Droids fan. Just click to the picture to the left to see what it's all about!
Speaking of Droids content on the official site, do you realize that next year marks the 30th anniversary of the Droids and Ewoks cartoons? Hopefully we will get even more good content from the official site next year, but in the meantime, why not check out our archived content from starwars.com's salute to the 25th anniversary of these shows right here: 25th Anniversary Coverage.
Next we have a feature from I Grew Up Star Wars.com all about Droids and the Droids action figure line. Enjoy watching and listening as they reminisce, and while you're there, check out some of the other features on their site. For people who grew up during the 70's and 80's it's a fun walk down memory lane. Just click on the picture and you're on your way!
Finally, we have the Force Cast. The guys address the question, "will we possibly see the Droids and Ewoks cartoons again?" To hear their answer, head on over by clicking on the picture.
That's all from me for now. I know it's been pretty slow news wise around here, but with Star Wars action ready to explode with Rebels and a full onslaught of new movies, hopefully the future will be bright for more Droids and Ewoks tie-ins and hopefully even the long awaited release of the complete series. All the best!

New Ewoks Comic!
May 14, 2013 - Wow, didn't see this one coming! Darkhorse announced a new Ewoks 80 page trade paperback that ties into Return of the Jedi and the Ewoks animated series! Looks like a mixture of character designs here, with ROTJ Ewoks resembling how they looked in the movie, but we also get Princess Kneesaa and Latara with an Ewoks cartoon inspired look. This comic will be available in October. Click on the picture for more info!
April 18, 2013 - Here's a small update to the previous post. Kea Moll's unusual blaster is not the only one of it's kind seen in Droids, as this alien seen here seems to be sporting a smaller but similar model. This scene takes place in the episode titled 'Coby and the Starhunters'.
April 16, 2013 - Blasters are rarely seen in Droids. Let me rephrase that. Blasters that look like blasters are rarely seen in Droids. But that doesn't mean that there were no lethal laser blasting weapons. Take Kea Moll's weapon for instance. This weapon was only seen in the first episode of Droids, but it's quite the elaborate contraption. Shoulder mounted, viewscreen targeting system, and from the looks of things, possibly capable of firing from the back as well. Kea looks like she's well stocked up with grenades or charges that she uses to load her blaster, and would be a pretty scary sight for anyone to come face to face with. Quite a first appearance on the show for Kea! I have no idea who came up with the idea for this weapon, but it sure looks like they had fun designing it!
April 15, 2013 - Here's an interesting blink and you'll miss it moment from Droids. Remember the story of how Thall Joben found a lightsaber abandoned by a mysterious stranger at his speeder shop? Well, did you know that unlike the standard round lightsaber hilt, the one that Thall Joben found was square? Just click on the picture to check it out!
